"Our Bodies/Our Voices" at The Center

Several of my portraits are included in the exhibition titled, “Our Bodies/Our Voices”, curated by Yohon Tatum. Opening night was wonderful. We were treated to a performance by local legend, Kevin Aviance (who is featured in one of my portraits) and we mixed and mingled with the beautiful people of NYC. The highlight for me was listening to Yohon present my work—not in a narcisstic way—but in the way he uderstood how my work is not about me but about US and OUR COMMUNITY. Here are his words:

“If you’ve walked through the halls, you’ve seen some wonderful things: people you may know. People in this room. Out of the list of 20 artists [I had to look at for this show], I kept going back to this man’s work. I just kept going back and seeing things I was familiar with, people that I knew. It spoke community. . In these portraits, I’ve seen people that I met before in their REAL SELF. And, you know its kinda hard when you’re out here in the scene to let people catch you in your real self”.

The show is up until January 18th, 2026 at The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center at 208 West 13th Street.
